Fairy Fang Films is proud to announce our inaugural festival on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025!

Founded by NYU Tisch alumni Salomé Sowa and Gianluca Umaña, and taking place at Low Cinema—a 44 seat independent theater, co-founded by documentarian John Wilson, Davis Fowlkes, and Cosmo Bjorkenheim—and Ridgewood’s first movie theater built since 1927. The festival brings together independent filmmakers of marginalized identities to share and screen their work, meet fellow creatives, and forge connections in an industry that too often overlooks intersectional voices.

Our festival—the first of many—aims to shift that tired narrative. We seek artists with a love for the craft who are ready to break through the crowded landscape: unique voices with something urgent to say and stories that demand to be seen and heard. This is a night to celebrate what makes you, well… you!

The festival is specifically tailored to uplift films whose director or key crew identify as LGBTQIA+, femme, neurodivergent, or BIPOC+.

Spanning four hours of curated programming, whimsy, concessions, and exclusive photo opportunities, the event will close with a Q&A panel featuring the artists who made this night possible.

Congrats to the artists selected for our first year programming!
